Dsan created a new event:

MMO Night

My plan is to begin a weekly MMO night starting next Wed (week from tomorrow).

I'd like to begin with Lotro since it is totally f2p and an old favorite - switching games every 1 to 3 months.
There will either be a poll for the next game or I'll just pick one myself.

The time is set for 8pm Central but it's a whenever kind of thing. Too many time zones in the group to be so specific.

Hope to see some of you there....

Played some lotro yesterday to see what's changed. It is still f2p but the prices have gone up. If you intend to buy anything it might be better to sub for a month as you generally keep whatever you managed to unlock.

That said, I'd recommend buying something as you go from normal f2p to premium f2p, gaining a few bonuses.

I'm down. I assume we are all starting characters from scratch and leveling up together? I have characters on Hillsdale, or something like that, but none on Landroval. I know they have the Quad Pack deal going during the summer sale, $9.99 to get you several expansions.

That was my thought. All start new characters and mess around awhile. Maybe someone likes the game, but give it awhile and try another MMO as a group.

Probably won't all be online at the same time but just hanging in TS is better than nothing.

Created one of the new races, will play the starter area for that since I don't think everyone will meet up there anyway. Not sure where it is, I haven't started the game yet, just created the character. I also made a Lore master, because reasons.

You'll see it pretty quickly but Beornlings have a VERY short intro area. They basically get to skip to level 5 and go to post-tutorial Archet.

I'll probably continue to play that class until MMO nights then switch to something more common.

For anyone relatively new to the game, I'd recommend not playing as a Hobbit unless you're okay not doing the Shire quests. Those quests can take forever and a week to get through...

As Deuce pointed out, there are a lot pf updates required. Make sure to run the patcher ahead of time if you intend to join us for week 1.

Let's just make that a thing.

We'll meet in the Human area, post-intro.
If you'd like info or assistance getting there with another race let me know.

Although it's possible to do the normal quests in the Human area regardless of race, certain races have a different beginning to their main story arc and may require traveling back to their homeland for those.

I made a Guardian (tank), but perfectly comfortable making something else if someone wants to play tank. I just wanted to make sure we had one.

It won't really matter for normal quest content. I don't mind filling in the gaps, everyone should play what looks interesting.

Besides, pretty much all of the classes have dual-purpose these days.

Tomorrow night!

Play whatever you want. No need to worry about filling gaps in the group.
I'll be available to make new chars so everyone can group up if they like.

I would recommend choosing human for now so that we're all in the same starting zone. If you choose another let me know and I'll join you, or we can help you get to the human area.

Good first night. Thanks for playing and hope to see you guys next week, or sooner.
If you didn't make it tonight you can always join us next time or whenever.

Next MMO Night is Wed 13th, still playing LotRo.

Lotro tomorrow night, whenever you like. Anyone joining us for the first time let me know and I'll make a character & group with you if you like. We'll be in teamspeak as usual.

Looks like there will be another update tomorrow morning. I doubt the patch will be as large as last week but I'll get on it as soon as I get home and let you guys know how it looks.
